LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology is a massive position measurement system that uses a laser or infrared scanning sensor, which emits pulses and registers the returns against the surface.
At Octocam-maps we have a team of engineers capable of offering a multiplatform LiDAR service using Static LiDAR, Drone LiDAR, Mobile LiDAR Mapping and Profilometer.
The static lidar is a tripod-mounted lidar sensor, which, from a fixed point, generates a 360-degree point cloud. By positioning the machine at different points, we can scan large environments with high accuracy (up to 250 scans per day). Octocam-maps has a Leica RTC 360 Lidar, which obtains 2,000,000 points per second and accuracies of +- 2mm.
Drone-borne LiDAR is a slam lidar system, which we adapt to an airborne drone to generate point clouds at altitude. It is the cheapest airborne LiDAR system on the market compared to airplane or helicopter flights. With a PPK geo-referenced system, supported by ground control points, we obtain a centimetric accuracy (+-5cm), being able to map up to 150ha per day.
Mobile Mapping is a slam lidar system onboard an SUV for point cloud generation while driving. With a PPK georeferenced system, supported by ground control points, we obtain a centimetric accuracy (+-5cm), being able to map up to 100 km per day.
The profilometer is a slam lidar system on board an SUV-type vehicle to generate point clouds of asphalt while driving. With a PPK georeferenced system, supported by ground control points, we obtain millimetric accuracy (+-1mm), being able to map up to 100 km per day. The main uses are for detecting deformations in roadways: locating cracks, damage and paintwork.
